I'll be the first to admit that the whirl of parties, the flush of emotions and the heat of it all has stolen me, taken me from the arms of where I belong and has left me longing for the hold of another.
And of course I'm talking about the crazy fixation most, if not all, Canadians have on the US Elections. It's almost over, we're all flexing our thigh muscles so that we will bounce to our feet when the last note is sung in order to hail (or throw paper balls at) the new president of America.
But where was all the excitement for our own election?
I know, I know, Rick Mercer already talked about this, and so did your mom, your profs, your politically inclined friends, and during late nights, after one too many beers, your dog probably talked to you about it too. But they all have a good point, minus Rover, who is still mildly hung over from the drugs after his delicate surgery.
All together, the major parties of Canada spent over $100 million campaigning around the country, yet I'm pretty sure a lot of people that I know will fail in telling me who the leaders are for half of those parties.
Now, that might be saying a lot about my friends, but they're retarded, not stupid, which means that if I asked them questions about the US presidential campaign, they become little fountains of information that can flow on and on until you feel the need to stick a plug in it.
I think you get what I'm trying to say in so many words (I'm sorry, I'm being distracted by the class I'm in. I know, they need to figure out when to shut up so I can blog), so I'll just end it here. I gotta read the Globe and Mail anyway, it's got a crazy cool section about Obama and McCain that I need to read up on.
